Basic Drawing – Cartooning

Basic Drawing and Cartooning is a course designed to teach you drawing skills commonly used by professional artists. The art industry is certainly one of the most enjoyable, but challenging careers you can enter. It is therefore important to obtain good drawing skills as early as possible. During the course you will create your own cartoon characters, and input your own ideas into a cartoon illustration. This will give you the opportunity to apply important drawing principals outlined in the workbook provided for the course.

Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:

  • What is a cartoon?
  • Starting with the head
  • Expanding on the figure
  • Completing your cartoon figure
  • Deciding on a character
  • Characters in action
  • The character sheet
  • Drawing a cartoon panel
  • Foreshortening and character perspective
  • Adding colour to your cartoon
  • Presentation.

Duration: You have 6 months from the date of enrolment to complete the course.

Issues may arise beyond the institute's control which affects its ability to deliver programs. Whilst every effort will be made to conduct all programs as advertised, the institute reserves the right to change or otherwise revise any program related issues including programs offered, class timetables, class locations and teacher allocations. The institute will make every reasonable attempt to advise students of any changes made to their selected program.

Privacy Statement:

Personal information collected as a result of your enrolment will be used by the Department for general student administration and vocational education and training administration and regulation; as well as departmental planning, reporting, communication, research, evaluation, financial administration (including debt recovery), auditing and marketing. Only authorised departmental officers and other authorised persons (e.g. Service providers, funding recipients) have access to this information. Your personal information may be disclosed to Australian and State Government authorities and agencies. Your personal information may be shared with other QLD TAFE Institutes in which you enrol or apply to enrol. Refunds on non-accredited short courses (does not apply to University Bridging Collection)

All refunds shall be in accordance with the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Regulation 2000, Part 5A, Sections 30N-30R and Financial Management Practice Manual 4.01.17 – TAFE Qld Student Refund.

Material fees

No refunds will be processed for materials that are considered to be used.

Fee for Service / Leveraged programs

If the program is cancelled or postponed by BNIT, participant's enrolment may be transferred to the next existing program of the same activity or participants may choose to obtain a full refund on all fees associated with the cancelled program.

Refund if enrolment is cancelled more than five days before program or unit commences: If a student cancels enrolment in a non-government funded program five or more days prior to the start date, the student will receive a refund of the fees paid for the program or unit less an administration charge of $10.

No refund if enrolment cancelled less than five days before a program or unit commences: Cancellations received less than five days before, on the day of, or after program or unit commencement will not be eligible for a refund of any fees and charges paid by/for the student, and any remaining payments due in respect of the enrolment must be paid to BNIT (unless a contract between the parties states otherwise).
